Healing Hearts Every Year

It's that time of year!!!  Gingerbread creation!

This year our theme is "Healing Hearts Every Year" - Le Bonheur and Christmas heal hearts every year!  In fact, Le Bonheur's CVICU healed more than 600 hearts with surgery and caths in just 2013!!! Amazing!!!!!  I know Christmas will heal many, many more!

Cutting some of our 600hearts

Mmmm, the gingerbread smells so good!

Time to make more dough ...

ingredients: flour, dark brown sugar, molasses, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and baking soda

Painting the board with glue to put on some coconut grass for the front lawn of Le Bonheur.

Susanna coloring the coconut green!

Spreading the grass - wish it was this easy to get pretty grass in our yard!

Attaching tiny heart candies to baby cookie hearts with icing - Madeline's idea!

Decorating the Le Bonheur building with some Christmas lights candies - Eli's idea!

Tim cutting the board as a firm foundation to hold all these cookies!

Icing some of the bigger hearts...

Stabilizing the back of the hospital with wooden dowels drilled through the board and glued to the back of the building.

Big helper, Susanna!

Over 600 hearts!

Putting the hearts on the front lawn...

Daddy's idea to make a heart outline and stack them 4 cookies high!

Then we stood up hearts all around the outside of the heart and filled the inside with hundreds of baby hearts!

Just about done!  You can't see much of the coconut  -  we underestimated what 600 heart really looks like!  Pretty amazing how many lives and families just one department has touched in just one year.

Our sweet baby Jesus in the midst of all these hearts!
Yellow coconut hay, graham cracker manger, Twinkie piece for the baby! and fabric for swaddling clothes.  Even more amazing is how this sweet little baby changes the world every single day!

 And the thing was done!

We got second place in the family division!!!
It is so fun seeing our creation set up in the Enchanted Forest year after year!
A fun tradition!

Eli turns SIX!

I cannot believe my Eli is 6!  How did he grow up so fast!

Yes, it has been a month since his birthday, and I am so far behind on the blog!!!  I have the best of intentions to get back to posting twice a week.  Hopefully this is a new start!!!

Five was a great year, and we are really looking forward to six!

Birthday streamers....

Eli's birthday was on a Friday, and there was "Zoo Boo" at the zoo!  Kids wear costumes, and the rides are not an extra fee, and they have lots of fun lights and decorations.  It seems we happen to go every other year, and that worked out again this year -and extra fun because it was Eli's birthday!  We had dinner with the Mangusos, at some bday cookie treats and we all went to Zoo Boo!

The Mangusos were the Incredibles Family! Eli was a falcon, Susanna was a bunny and Madeline was Laura Ingalls.

Big Birthday Boy!

Love their smiles on this ride!

Eli had a party at Sky Zone with his friends and family to celebrate his birthday!

They had a great time jumping... what a fun place!

Eli's friends at the party:  Fletcher, Nate, Matthew and Inhoo!
Kindergarten boys are so much fun - full of energy and a great source of entertainment for us!

Family enjoying watching!

Eli didn't want a cake, so we got cookie cakes.  Eli has really enjoyed the Chima Lego sets, so he wanted the two main characters on his cakes - the decorator did an awesome job!

Happy Birthday, sweet boy!

Nonna and Dada celebrating with us!

Uncle Steven, Aunt Dessa, Lauren Ashley and Parker came, too!!!

Lots of celebrating!
Birthdays are such great reasons to bring our favorite people together and have fun!
