Happy Birthday Our Sweet Suzy Q!

Our sweet little love, Susanna turns 2 today!  Really?  What in the world? She couldn't possibly be two already.  I was just getting up in the night to feed her, like yesterday, right?  She has really given so much to our family and we cannot even imagine our family without her!

Here is our little "schnickerdoodle" not even an hour after she was born.  From the moment she was born, literally, she has been FULL of personality.  We were just talking about this with the kids yesterday - right after Susanna was born, she cried one time, then snorted really loud gasping for another breath to cry again!  It made everyone in the delivery room laugh and a wonderful memory for us! There it began, her silly, funny, jovial personality!

The beginnings of a great big brother!  Eli really watches out for her and Susanna looks for him whenever he is more than 2 feet from her.  They've gotten to be sweet friends.

Madeline is definitely Susanna's second Mommy.  She's always watching out for her, protecting her, "reminding" her of the "rules"and making excuses for her in the same breath so she won't get in trouble!

So happy for this special girl!

First birthday...

.... another moment when she made us all laugh!
Who cares about the music and the blocks, this thing is great for climbing!

She has changed so much in this last year... wow, she was so small, and still had no hair!

She loves popsicles and fruit!
She walked at 11 months, so on her first birthday, she was motoring everywhere!

We had a little splash party in our backyard for her first birthday. Susanna loved playing in the water, but also loved squatting in this car!

These are all from the last few months.... just to show a little snippit of this full personality!

Stripping down to nothing...

Loving Miss Peggy's Kindermusik class!

And the attention from her brother...

Sliding on her tummy down a sand mountain!

Getting Mimi's toes!!!!!

Dyeing eggs!

She looks likes she's up to something.....

After a full day of visiting with family and hunting eggs at Nonna and Dada's house, who is the only one awake on the way home?  Sus, of course! Holding her brother's and sister's hands ... love that!

and acting silly - she did finally fall asleep!

At Mimi and Pop's house, Sabrina's new birthday sand and water table present - Susanna has taken it over and stripped all her clothes off so she won't be bothered with wet shirt and pants!

Eating way too many strawberries...

On the big swing, of course!

Yum!

Laying down, full body, in the sand!

Even after posting all these pictures, I feel like they don't do her justice!  Last night before bed, she was in the living room with Eli.  She was totally naked about to put jammies on, and she was standing over Eli and the roads and town he built with one hand on her hip rattling off something that he needed to be doing!  I should have taken a picture!  It was just so funny, that little hand on that hip with that poked out tummy acting like she was 25 years old!

Happy Birthday sweet Susanna!  We love you with all our hearts!!!

Lucy Krull

This morning we went swimming at my friend Shannon's house.  While we were visiting, she asked if I had looked at Kate Krull's blog lately.  Selfishly, I have not checked it in a couple weeks - getting ready for the end of Madeline's school year, preparing for a family beach trip and for Tim being out of town a couple of days - all sound like pretty silly things compared to what Kate's family is dealing with.  Lucy is 6 years old and has had cancer for a little over a year.  We know them from a Sunday School class at Christ Methodist we shared for a few years until Kate and Erik moved back to Covington.  Shannon went to college with Kate and Erik, and my good friend Fran knows the Krulls from Covington, too.  So, together, they have been keeping me in the loop with Lucy's story.  It sounds like Lucy's cancer is back and she doesn't have long....

You can read their story on Kate's blog: http://erikandkatekrull.blogspot.com/

Today is one of those days that I realize how blessed I am and feel so completely saddened by how much people are suffering...... please pray for Lucy and her sweet family.... for comfort and mercy and no suffering.
